Do you see this when trying to view our Flash tutorials?
Many
users of Internet Explorer 7 are having difficulty viewing some Flash
content. There appear to be a few different causes for this issue. If you
are experiencing this problem, you will see the image shown here when you
try to view our tutorials recorded in Flash format. If you click the link to
install the player, it may work fine, but the next time you launch your
browser, you have to go through the process all over again.
There are a couple of ways to resolve this issue. For information, see
the
deconcept blog where one of these ways is documented.
If you're using Internet Explorer 7 on Windows Vista and you are
experiencing this problem, it's likely due to User Account Control (UAC) in
Vista. UAC is the feature that prevents you from running with full
privileges by default, and that feature can interfere with the successful
install of the Flash player.
If you're a Vista user, you can usually resolve this issue by downloading
the Flash player from Adobe and installing it with elevated privileges. Here
is a step-by-step to assist you with that.
-
Download the Flash player from
http://www.macromedia.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_ie. Save this
file. Do NOT open it when downloading.
-
Right-click on the file you downloaded and select Run As Administrator
from the menu.
-
Complete the installation.
After performing these steps, your Flash player should be correctly
installed and you should no longer encounter a problem.
